2011 civil war in Libya
On 15 August 2011, as anti-Gaddafi forces encircled Libyan strongman Muammar Gaddafi's capital of Tripoli during theLibyan civil war, Libyan Army forces in Gaddafi's hometown of Sirte, seemingly in an act of vengeance for recent battlefield defeats, fired a Scud missile toward rebel positions in Cyrenaica, well over 100 kilometers away. The missile impacted the desert near Ajdabiya, causing no casualties.[30]
