Tunisian security forces have attacked hundreds of protestors who took out to the streets in the capital, Tunis, to call for a “second revolution” due to the government's weak performance. Police forces, who had blocked the streets leading to the Tunisian interior ministry, tried to scatter the protesters by firing tear gas and beating some of them with truncheons, Reuters reported on Monday. Several hundred demonstrators gathered in front of the cathedral in Tunis, shouting "new revolution," "the people want the system to fall," and "Free Tunisia, throw out the thieves." "We need a new revolution ... Nothing has changed. This government should leave right now,” one of the protesters said. People participating in the rally, which was organized by the General Workers' Union (UGTT), also called for "independent justice", and "purge of corrupt judges and lawyers." In January, a revolution in Tunisia ended the despotic rule of former President Zine El Abidine Ben Ali.
