At Bani Walid fighting erupted overnight as Gaddafi loyalists attempted to overrun a NTC checkpoint on the outskirts of the town.

Shooting and explosions went on for several hours at Wadi Dinar, 20 kilometres from the town centre but had subsided by daybreak. One loyalist was killed and one NTC fighter injured in the clash.
