Are we ever going to go back to being the land of the free and home of the brave, or have we entered the "cowardly executing your enemies from afar while having all of your citizens' communications pilfered by a national 'security' state to determine if all of the people who won't vote for you are threats to national security" phase of militant nationalism?

The definition of "terrorist", for instance in Egypt and Libya, appears to be "person unwilling to act as a US puppet state, and otherwise unbowed by US pressure to do what the US wants it to". It has nothing to do with actual terrorism, of which the US Army, Navy, and Marines are the primary purveyor worldwide.

We're so excited that two very talented people, with whom we work from time-to-time, received top honours at the Overseas Press Club of America's annual awards ceremony this week!

Patrick Chappatte became the first-ever non-American to win the International Cartoonist prize. Check out his work here: http://goo.gl/UB6TP

And Andre Liohn joined the ranks of the world's most legendary photographers by winning the Robert Capa Gold Medal Award. Find his gallery from Libya on TIME: http://goo.gl/18RFP

Congratulations to Patrick and Andre for this well-deserved recognition of their work!
