Protesters in Libya said they have claimed control over Wazen border crossing with Tunisia and about 100 of pro-Gaddafi forces fled across the terminal into Tunisia, al-Jazeera news channel reported on Thursday.
The crossing is now under full dominance of the rebels, according to al-Jazeera. With thousands reported to have fled the fighting to Wazen, the crossing could be a key access to Nault city, currently under a crippling blockade by Libyan leader Muammar Gaddafi's forces. In the meantime, Gaddafi's forces continued shelling Misrata city leading to the killing of three civilians, according to the rebels.

Yet, rebels said they lied an ambush at the eastern entrance of Misrata, killing more than 100 of Gaddafi's forces and capturing up to 40 others, according to al-Jazeera. Fighting in Misrata resulted in the killing of at least 10 civilians on Wednesday including British photojournalist Tim Hetherington and American photographer chris Hondros. Libyan medics also said that seven Libyan civilians lost their lives in addition to a Ukrainian doctor during the heavy fighting engulfing the city. In the meantime, the Libyan state-run TV said that NATO raids targeting the southeastern Tripoli suburb of Khellat Al-Ferjan led to the death of at least seven people and the injury of others, while NATO denied any civilian causalities during the raid.
