As intense fighting continued in Sirte yesterday, Friday, there was a constant stream of civilians pouring out of the town from early morning until late afternoon .
In transport of all shapes and sizes, people packed into their vehicles along with their belongings, poured in to the countryside and up against the NTC checkpoints.
The NTC checked every vehicle and every ID and in some cases unloaded goods in order to examine the contents.

Civilians flee Sirte With Their Belongings - Reuters
NTC officials said 15 cars left through the eastern gate and over 1,000 Sirte residents were registered leaving to the west. 15 people were detained as suspected Gaddafi loyalists.
In Benghazi a Red Cross official said that as of Wednesday 18,000 residents in total had left Sirte.  --more...
