The Zephyros

As I mentioned in a post awhile back, I'm working on some plans for a#dieselpunk dirigible. It will not be your standard dirigible, and will have some fantastical elements. For starters, it's not filled with helium or hydrogen!

What supplies lift? I'm glad you asked. The mysterious Phoenix Engine, pulled from an ancient Egyptian tomb. Archaeologists believe that whoever built the device...

Carl Bussler  -  Thanks a lot +Kelly Davis, now I want to build a model of The Zephyros.

I've been doing research and thinking about The Zephyros, its history, the science and the politics surrounding it. I've discovered that there were airships designed to carry planes and cars. So, I now I've started illustrating these things that will be carried inside The Zephyros.

I have currently illustrated the Proteus, a protoype submarine that's 100' long and will have a compliment of around 10. This sub's specs are not set, but I think it will be a non-combat sub (no torpedoes or deck guns), but its original purpose was to put spies ashore.

Also illustrated is the Boeing P-26 Peashooter, a small combat plane armed with twin .30 cal machine guns. It has short range, but is fast and agile. Just the kind of thing I can stuff into the airship.

I still need to illustrate the 1929 Ford Model AA heavy-duty truck and the 1929 Ford Model A Town Car that will be in the airship, as well as the torpedoes, .30 machine guns, and some other things.

The story behind the Zephyros is that it was purchased by the U.S. and their mission for it was something similar to today's modern aircraft carrier.

The Russians purchased an Anemoi Class dirigible too, but their version is outfitted as a massive troop and tank carrier. The Japanese have their own version, outfitted in another pattern. The fourth Anemoi Class dirigible was sold to a private and yet unkown party. The Swiss company who built these ships will not reveal details of the ships to anyone.

I'll share more on this project late tonight. The drawing is looking great!
