Afyssos, Greece
I ended up in Afyssos quite by chance, and I didn't stay long. I had a bit of time to kill between visiting the monasteries of Meteora and a planned visit to Athens and a look at the map suggested the Pelion peninsula might be worth a look. The choice was then to visit the east coast or the west coast of the peninsula. Anticipating a wonderful Greek sunset I plumped for the west coast, and I wasn't disappointed when I arrived in the small village of Afyssos. Though January is cold and the sea was choppy, and there wasn't a tourist in sight, a sunset is a sunset and I found what I was looking for.
