With the election less than a month away, a new survey of likely Colorado voters shows a one-percentage-point lead for presidential candidate Mitt Romney over President Barack Obama -- well within the poll's margin of error.
The poll, released Thursday by Quinnipiac University, CBS News and the New York Times, cements Colorado's status as a tossup state, one of a handful that will be key in deciding who occupies the White House the next four years.
The survey of 1,254 likely Colorado voters -- conducted Oct. 4-9, after the candidates' debate Oct. 3 at the University of Denver -- shows Republican Romney supported by 48 percent of Colorado likely voters and Democrat Obama by 47 percent.
The survey's margin of error of plus or minus 2.8 percent.
A pre-debate Quinnipiac/CBS/NYT Colorado survey, released Sept. 19, showed Obama at 48 percent to Romney's 47 percent.
