A Libyan no fly zone should be declared immediately – AD

Alternattiva Demokratika has appealed to the Maltese Government to apply maximum international pressure for an immediate air exclusion “no fly zone” in Libya.
Prof. Arnold Cassola, Alternattiva Demokratika Spokesperson on EU and International Affairs, said, “what is the civilised world waiting for before declaring an air exclusion “no fly zone” in Libya? The bloody Gaddafi regime is decimating the badly armed opposition and marching on its way to Benghasi. Is the international community waiting for yet another act of genocide on its conscience before taking action? Maltese foreign Minister Tonio Borg, Maltese Opposition Leader Joseph Muscat and Maltese EU commissioner John Dalli should wake up and smell the coffee… and quickly. They cannot go on trying to appease Gaddafi’s brutal regime for some unknown (sic!) reason. Any further silence on their part could lead to the decimation of yet thousands more innocent Libyans.”
Michael Briguglio, AD Chairperson, added that, “following the assent of the Arab League, it is now the turn of the UN Security Council and the EU to act swiftly on the issue of the “no fly zone. Maltese Prime Minister Gonzi should take the lead in pushing the international community to take action to prevent a genocide.”
