FRATTINI SAYS LIBYAN OPERATIONS SHOULD END IN 3-4 WEEKS
10:29 06 MAG 2011
(AGI) Palermo - Foreign minister, Franco Frattini, said that military operations in Libya would probably end within a few weeks. Speaking during the PPE study days in Palermo, Frattini emphasised that the issue is not the date of the end of the Italian mission in Libya, but it is "how to work to end the protection operations as soon as possible." He observed that, "There are optimistic estimates of a few days and more realistic ones of a few weeks, three to four, and it is certainly necessary to intensify pressure in order to get a political initiative going. This was the outcome come yesterday's meeting (of the Contact Group, ed.), which was very important." . .
