The county's CodeRED program allows residents to receive updates about the storm as it draws closer to our area. With Hurricane Irene setting its sights on Long Island, Suffolk County officials are urging residents to sign up for the county's emergency notification system. The CodeRED system can deliver customized pre-recorded emergency messages directly to county homes and businesses at the proven capacity of millions of calls per day.
