The compound of Amar Ahmad Moussa was badly damaged after revolutionary fighters fired rockets and anti-aircraft rounds towards it.
Among the items found scattered in the property were a crumpled poster of the deposed leader and Moussa’s discarded identity card.
Forces attacked the compound on Tuesday night.
Meanwhile, in New York, a new Libyan flag has marked a fresh beginning at the United Nations headquarters.
Due to be named in the next ten days, Libya’s new rulers will be represented by the flag used from 1951 until Colonel Gaddafi introduced a green one, 26 years later.
