urkey’s Prime Minister is the latest international leader to visit Libya.
This is the latest stop for Recep Tayyip Erdogan on what’s been dubbed his “Arab Spring” tour. He has already visited Egypt and Tunisia this week.
Commentators say the aim is to offer help, while reinforcing and advancing Turkey’s authority in the region.
Erdogan was greeted at the airport by Mustafa Abdul-Jalil of the National Transitional Council – Libya’s fledgling government.

The visit comes a day after French President Nicolas Sarkozy and British Prime Minister David Cameron were given an enthusiastic welcome in Tripoli.
Erdogan is expected to visit the newly-renamed Martyr’s Square in Tripoli, and to travel to the cities of Misrata and Benghazi.
