The Arab League is ready to send observers to Syria in three days if Damascus signs a protocol stipulating the conditions of their work. This decision was taken Wednesday evening following the emergency meeting of foreign ministers of the Pan- Arab organization.
Earlier, the League reported readiness to send 500 observers to Syria, entrusted with ensuring the Syrian authorities not violate the rights of civilians.
It is planned that representatives of Arab human rights organizations, journalists and the military will be among the observers.
On Saturday, the League voted to suspend Syria’s membership in the organization. Damascus was presented with an ultimatum: to comply with all points of the Pan-Arab plan to normalize the situation in the country, or face political and economic sanctions. (TASS)
