TIMELINE – 11th November 2011 12.39 GMT:
In the wake of yet another day of violence by Assad’s brutal regime with 33 more people killed in Homs, including a 8 year old girl, Human Rights Watch (HRW) has called on the Arab League, due meet in Cairo tomorrow, to suspend Syria’s membership.
HRW issued a report yesterday documenting abuses by Assad’s regime. Based upon interviews with 110 witnesses the report estimates at least 587 civilian deaths in the 4 months between mid April and the end of August in Homs province alone.

Suggesting that the Arab League should now also report Assad to the International Criminal Court for “crimes against humanity”, HRW says that at least 104 people have been killed in Homs since “agreement” was reached with Syrian Government on 2ndNovember to withdraw its troops and release prisoners.
Some former detainees reported to HRW that they had been tortured with heated metal rods, electric shocks, beatings and being forced into “stress positions” for long periods
