After being in hiding and then on the run since the death of his father Colonel Gaddafi, Saif a- Islam has finally been apprehended. After the virtual execution on the spot justice given to his father there are efforts currently underway to ensure that Saif faces justice. In the end the result could be the same, the death of Saif, but this time the NTC hope to play be the book.
Early reports say that he was arrested with two aides, whilst attempting to flee to Libya. He was apprehended by the Zintan Brigade near the town of Obari in Libya's southern desert ."We have arrested Saif al-Islam Gaddafi in [the] Obari area," the NTC Justice Minister announced,
He is currently being held in Zintan and the hope is that he will soon be safely transported to Tripoli where he will face a Libyan court. Images show Saif with a hand injury which is said to be long standing. The ICC now want justice to be seen to be done.
When Saif arrived in Zintan an angry mob attempted to mete out rough justice. This time the new Libyan regime want to show that they can try him fairly. As one of the remaining links to the old regime Libyans will be happy to see Saif captured. It is one more step on the road to a new Libya.
