American Idol: Jennifer Lopez denies she's quitting

Jennifer Lopez may have just been named by Forbes magazine today as the most powerful celebrity, but her reign at American Idol is coming to an end. While J.Lo has publicly said she has yet to make a decision about her future on Idol, sources exclusively tell me that she she's planning on calling it quits. "She's just too busy," one source said. That's so very true. She's about to launch a mega concert tour with Enrique Iglesias that kicks off this summer in Latin America and the U.S. She plans to go worldwide in the fall. I'm told Lopez, 42, will be on the road, at the very least, through the end of the year. The next round of Idol auditions will begin while she's overseas. The superstar apparently wants to free up her schedule next year, possibly taking a little hiatus from work to be with her kids. "It is just like any working mom's dilemma," Lopez told us at Monday's premiere of What to Expect When You're Expecting. "It's tough. It's a balancing act. You put them first and then you have all these other things that you have to do, that you have to give your time to as well, and you have to make sure that they're OK in the process." Fox declined to comment on Lopez's future with the show. Meanwhile, a source close to the production tells E! News that "Fox does not want to let her go. They love her." Lopez has been on Idol for two seasons with one-year contracts for both. She went home with $12 million the first time around with a nice raise to $20 million for this season.

American Idol ousted Joshua Ledet and determined its Final 2 eleventh-season finalists during Thursday night's live results show broadcast on Fox. Ledet, a 19-year-old from Westlake, LA, became the eleventh finalist sent home from American Idol's eleventh season after he received the fewest home viewer votes following Wednesday night's performance show. The performance show featured the Top 3 finalists each performing three songs -- one of the judges' choosing, one of their own choosing and one selected for them by Idol mentor Jimmy Iovine. "American Idol means everything to me. This journey has taken me to levels I never thought I would go. Before Idol, I never experienced something this big. Coming this far, I'm definitely proud of myself," Ledet said following her ouster. Ledet's departure left Jessica Sanchez and Phillip Phillips still in the running for American Idol's eleventh-season title. Ledet -- who was one of the 10 finalists voted into the season's Top 13 by home viewers -- had received raving reviews from Idol judges Steven Tyler, Jennifer Lopez and Randy Jackson following all three of his performances during Wednesday's performance show, leaving the judges to believe he'd be a tough one to beat. Ledet proved he could be consistent throughout the entire competition, and the judges along with Iovine, simply had nothing negative or critical to say. Ledet first took to the stage Wednesday night and performed "I'd Rather Go Blind" by Eta James, which was the song Lopez, Jackson and Tyler had thoughtfully picked out for him. "Joshua, this is another Joshua moment. It was so surreal to hear somebody sing those old songs and deliver them and to hear the audience scream in that just right spot. It's like a dream come true for you right? Out of 70,000, there's only one 'American Idol,' and you sang like that tonight," Tyler told him.
