#Syria I am going to presume that either someone in the Turkish military will be facing a court marshal for sending a training mission so close to a hostile area, near a country that is currently in a full civil war, where the military are going to be trigger happy, especially as they have been threaten with military action by several parties in the past.

 If not then I will presume this was either the intention of the Turkey military to have it plane shot down and use it as a pretext for a NATO intervention into the Civil war, an the pilots are fine at base or it was a spying mission and Syria took the response that any other nation would, shoot first asked questions later.
