Ernest Borgnine, the Academy Award-winning star of the 1955 film 'Marty' has died at age 95, according to OnTheRedCarpet.com's parent company, KABC Television in Los Angeles.
Borgnine won a Best Actor in a Leading Role at the Academy Awards in 1956 for playing a kind-hearted Italian-American butcher in the film "Marty." The actor is also known for playing Quinton McHale in the television series "McHale's Navy" which ran from 1962 to 1966.
Younger audiences might know Borgnine for voicing the Mermaid Man on the animated series "SpongeBob SquarePants."
He was married five times, including once briefly to singer Ethel Merman.
The cause of his death and other details are currently unkown.
