The Mitt Romney campaign on Friday released a scathing new ad hitting President Barack Obama over the controversial super PAC ad that implies the GOP candidate is responsible for the death of a man’s wife . “What does it say about a president’s character when his campaign tries to use the tragedy of a woman’s death for political gain?” the ad states. The spot in question was released this week by the pro-Obama “Priorities USA” and features a steelworker who was laid off by Bain Capital saying he lost his health insurance and couldn‘t pay for his wife’s cancer treatment. It later emerged that Joe Soptic’s wife died five years after he lost his job, and that she had had her own health insurance. “What does it say about a president’s character when he had his campaign raise money for the ad then stood by as his top aides were caught lying about it?” the ad continues. The Obama campaign initially claimed they knew nothing of what happened to Soptic’s wife, but later acknowledged he had actually appeared in one of their own ads and that he had told his story on a conference call. The Romney ad concludes: “Doesn’t America deserve better than a president who will say or do anything to stay in power?” – RELATED: Priorities USA Founder Defends ‘Romney Killed My Wife’ Ad Mitt Romney’s Spokeswoman Said Something on Fox That Has Some People Worried — But Should They Be?
