Look ahead
- President Barack Obama and Mitt Romney will hold the first of their debates this week. This one, focusing on domestic policy, will take place at 9 p.m. EDT on Wednesday. The debate is being moderated by Jim Lehrer at the University of Denver.
- Thursday is World Animal Day, a day devoted to appreciating animals. Many events are being held on this day, including pet blessings.
- Among the new movies opening this week are “Taken 2,” a PG-13 thriller starring Liam Neeson (who starred in the first “Taken”); “Frankenweenie,” an animated PG film by Tim Burton; “Butter,” an R comedy starring Jennifer Garner; “V/H/S,” an R horror film; “The Paperboy,” an R thriller starring Matthew McConaughey, Nicole Kidman, John Cusack and Zac Efron; and “Pitch Perfect,” a PG-13 musical comedy.
- New albums are coming Tuesday from Van Morrison, Tori Amos, Muse, Papa Roach, Diana Krall and more.
