Egypt’s Muslim Brotherhood president told the Turkish AKP Party today that he wants to stand with the people of Gaza and the West Bank who are “under siege”, and that he looks forward to a Palestinian state with Jerusalem as it’s capital:
EGYPT INDEPENDENT – “We can never hesitate to lend a helping hand to the people of Gaza, our neighbors and brothers, as well as the people of the West Bank and all Palestinians everywhere,” Morsy told the gathering of AKP politicians. “Egyptians can never stand helplessly while they see the people of Gaza under siege. We look forward to the establishment of a Palestinian state by the will of the Palestinians with Jerusalem as its capital.”
Also, according to a report in the Jerusalem Post, Morsi is contemplating military action against Assad in Syria that could involve Turkey:
JPOST – Adviser to Egypt’s president Mohammed Morsy Seif Abdel-Fattah stated on Sunday that Morsy is ready to participate in an Arab military intervention in Syria to end the crisis.
Abdel Fattah told Turkish news agency Anatolia that “Egypt is considering the proposed country on Arab military intervention in Syria, and will be in contact with Doha and Ankara shortly regarding this proposal,” Al-Arabiya reported.
The Morsy adviser commented that “Cairo could push Turkey to support Arab intervention in Syria.”
He added that the matter will be discussed during Morsy’s private meeting with Turkish Prime Minister Recep Tayyip Erdogan later on Sunday.
