O.C. firm forecasts Irene property damage

A Santa Ana-based data analysis company that says Hurricane Irene will place as many as 1.8 million properties at risk from storm-surge flooding released updated numbers Saturday.
The company, CoreLogic, also released storm-surge maps for three categories of hurricane intensity for the East Coast, showing flood potential.
As the 500-mile-wide storm churned past North Carolina Saturday, its winds had weakened to a category 1 hurricane; it is likely to reach New York City by Sunday morning, forecasters said.
