Report: Atlanta Hawks “strong candidate” for Luol Deng
Deng
With all eyes on the future of Carmelo Anthony, LeBron James, and Kevin Love, there are other names this NBA off-season who can bring value to teams. One of those names is forward Luol Deng who is a solid veteran player and viewed as a team leader among league circles.
Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports reported late Sunday night that the Atlanta Hawks could be in play for Deng, and it’s in part of their newly created cap space.
The Hawks created more cap when they agreed to trade Lou Williams to the Toronto Raptors for John Salmons, who they can waive and only pay him $1 million of his $7 million contract.
With much more freedom in cap space and the need of another veteran scorer, the Hawks do seem like a pretty good potential fit for Deng. He was traded by the Bulls to the Cavaliers last year, as they prepared to clear cap space to pursue Carmelo Anthony and other prized free agents.
