A dozen pro-Gaddafi vehicles arrive in Niger

  •    "A dozen vehicles arrived yesterday (Friday) carrying pro-Gaddafi," said this source contacted in Agadez, who added that the convoy was escorted by the Nigerian military. This source did not specify the number and the identity of the occupants of the convoy.

"They were a dozen (of vehicles) to enter by road in Arlit (north of Agadez close to Algeria and Libya) and they are escorted by the military," said a witness, manager of a travel agency in Agadez, on condition of anonymity.

A freelance journalist based in Agadez, said Saturday that "twelve vehicles in which there were pro-Gaddafi left Agadez to Niamey", without specifying the identity of the occupants and whether they were among the vehicles Friday arrived.

Thursday, three Libyan generals close to Gadhafi, including former chief of the Air Force, arrived in Agadez and are under military surveillance.

According to Justice Minister and government spokesman, Marou Amadou, these are General Al-Rifi Ali Al-Sharif, head of the Libyan air force before the fall of the regime, General Ali Khana, Gaddafi's bodyguard and chief of Obara Libyan forces in the south of Libya, 200 km north of Niger, and General Mahammed Abydalkarem, of the command of the military region of Murzuk, in the extreme south Libya.

Niger has ensured that it would respect its commitments to international justice for pro-Gaddafi sought and present on its soil.
