Revolutionary forces enter Gaddafi hometown Sirte
NTC forces entered Sirte from the southern and western front and they are currently preparing to launch an offensive against pro-Gaddafi forces inside the loyalist stronghold.
Armed with light weapons and artillery mounted pick-up trucks, painted in yellow and red so the Western Alliance would be able to distinguish them from Gaddafi forces.
A military spokesman from the NTC confirmed that forces have reached Jisr Al-Gharbiat inside the town and said that the forces are now in full control of the airport, 10 kilometers from the center of town.
The statement didn’t give further details of the number of fighters injured during the operation.
Our sources confirmed to Libya TV that heavy fighting is taking place around the Ouagadougou complex. Pro-Gaddafi forces used rocket propelled grenades (RPG’s) and grad missiles to shell the area around Beni Hamal Mosque inside the town.
