Despite continued shell and rocket fire the 48 hour truce announced by the NTC in the battle for Sirte lasted well enough for another 1,000 vehicles to escape the town on Sunday.
Many of those now fleeing say that they have spent up to 10 days trying to get out of Sirte, despite the fact that safety was just a few short kilometres away.
