Libya: The rebels captured a general gadafista in central Sirte

Tripoli, 11 oct (EFE) .- The National Transitional Council forces (CNT) from Libya have captured a general gadafista today in the center of Sirte, the hometown of Muammar al-Gaddafi, sources told Efe insurrection.
The general, identified as Mohamed Omar Gadhafi The Gohsi and presented as a member of the family fled the Libyan leader, led a battalion of tanks, according to sources.
His capture took place in the center of the city during the raid of a rebel squad to locate the positions of elements loyal to the old regime.
The forces of insurrection succeeded, today also, release several of his followers and some civilians taken hostage by gadafistas within the Ibn Sina hospital, in addition to taking control of a major police station used as a basis for their rivals.
The rebel troops besieging Sirte a month ago, have launched a week ago near what they have described as the final assault to "liberate" the city.
Leaders of the insurrection Efe said yesterday that the battle of Sirte has reached the beginning of the end and all local strategic areas under their control.
The center of the city is almost the only place that remains in the hands of the forces of the old regime and the first firing of the rebellion have started fighting at dawn today.
On the other hand, a person was injured today during a meeting between the different brigades of the rebellion and the leaders of the so-called "Libyan national army" in Tripoli, according to Efe found.
The purpose of the meeting was to unify the ranks of all armed forces born of rebellion and those arising under the baton of a new army.
