NEW YORK – A few hours before the NFL draft, trade talk is starting to heat up, and the Detroit Lions are front and center in the discussions.
According to multiple reports, the Lions have called teams around the league in an effort to move into the top 15 and get the defensive back they sorely need.
Whom the Lions are targeting remains a bit of a mystery. ESPN’s John Clayton reported this morning the object of their affection might be Alabama safety Mark Barron, while the NFL Network’s Jason LaCanfora reported that the Lions are after South Carolina cornerback Stephon Gilmore.
The Lions allowed 90 points and more than 900 yards passing in their final two games last year, losses to the Green Bay Packers and New Orleans Saints, and have holes at both positions.
