(ANSAMed) - JERUSALEM, AUGUST 24 - Egypt and Israel have come to an understanding on Egypt's military maneuvers along the northern Sinai border in response to Islamic terrorist attacks there at the beginning of the month, Israeli media quoted Arab newspaper al-Hayat as saying on Friday.

Egypt's new defense minister, General Abdel Fattah al-Sisi, in a telephone conversation reassured his Israeli counterpart, Ehud Barak, that Egypt intends to respect the Camp David peace agreements, al-Hayat reported.

The conversation followed on alarmist reports in Israeli media in recent days, as to Egypt's real intentions in massing weapons, armored vehicles and jet fighters in the northern Sinai region, which was demilitarized according to the Camp David treaty 30 years ago. (ANSAMed).
