Republican nominee Mitt Romney gained a point on President Barack Obama in Gallup's daily tracking poll. Obama leads Romney 49-45, as Obama stayed even with his Sunday number.
Overall, Romney has gained 2 percentage points on Obama over the weekend. He trailed 50-44 on Friday.
Meanwhile, the president's approval rating went up a point to 47 percent, though that's below the "safe" 50-percent threshold for re-election. Obama's approval rating has swung wildly in recent weeks
Two Fridays ago, Obama experienced the culmination of a 12-point, two-week swing that saw his approval rating drop to only 46 percent and his disapproval rating rise to 48 percent. Last week, it moved back to a positive for the president, and his approval rating jumped back over the crucial 50-percent threshold. On Sunday, it dropped back down to 46 percent.
