The latest national poll to be released today finds Barack Obama barely beating Mitt Romney, 50 percent to 47 percent, respectively. The poll was conducted by CNN/ORC and measures likely voters.
The CNN poll was conducted between September 28 and 30. The sample includes 783 interviews and has a margin of error of 3.5 percentage points.
The good news for the Romney campaign is that it shows a positive trajectory for the Republican candidate.
In the last CNN poll, Obama received support for 52 percent of likely voters, while Romney received 46 percent. In both polls, 1 percent of respondents have no opinion of the race. That poll was taken between September 7 and 9, directly after the Democratic convention.
This poll is consistent with other national polls. "Two new polls out this morning show a race that, nationally, remains within the margin of error for Mitt Romney and President Obama as they enter a crucial week in the race," Politico reports.
But of course the news is still not all great for Romney: Though the latest polls are trending in his direction, they all show President Barack Obama slightly ahead.
