Facebook, which spent record amounts on lobbying in the second quarter, is planning on having a full slate of events at Wednesday's presidential debate in Denver.
Events begin at 5 p.m. Eastern and include panels with Colorado Gov. John Hickenlooper, Denver Mayor Michael B. Hancock and Colorado Republican Rep. Cory Gardner.
Facebook spent $960,000 in the second quarter on lobbying, which was $300,000 more than it spent in the first quarter. So far in 2012, Facebook spent $1.61 million on lobbying already more than the $1.35 million the company spent in all of 2011, according to the Center for Responsive Politics.
Even though a number of battleground states, including Ohio and Virginia have been turning blue in the polls, Colorado has kept a shade of red, our colleagues reported last month.

Part of the answer lies in the state's demographic makeup, which is more GOP-friendly than other southwest states. Minorities constituted just 19 percent of the vote there in 2008, according to exit polls, making it less like neighbors Nevada and New Mexico. In the former, they made up 31 percent of the vote; in the latter, the figure was 50 percent.
Colorado also has some urban areas that are extremely conservative. The best-known is Colorado Springs, home of the U.S. Air Force Academy and headquarters of the socially conservative group Focus on the Family and other like-minded organizations.
