#Braves Detroit Tigers acquired center fielder Cameron Maybin for pitchers Ian Krol and Gabe Speier

The Detroit Tigers acquired center fielder Cameron Maybin and cash considerations from the Atlanta Braves in exchange for pitchers Ian Krol and Gabe Speier, the teams announced on Friday.

Maybin, 28, hit .267/.327/.370 with 18 doubles and 10 home runs in 141 games for the Braves in 2015, his first season in Atlanta after getting traded from the San Diego Padres as part of the Craig Kimbrel trade in April. Maybin also stole 23 bases in 29 attempts.

"Cameron Maybin is a good outfielder with plenty of experience in center field," Tigers general manager Al Avila said in a press release. "He is coming off of a solid offensive season in 2015 and brings speed and athleticism to our club. Brad Ausmus and the coaching staff will determine Cameron's role during spring training."

The Tigers originally drafted Maybin in the first round in 2005, but he was traded in 2007 to the Miami Marlins as part of the deal that brought Miguel Cabrera to Detroit.

Maybin is due $8 million in 2016, per Cot's Baseball Contracts, and has a $9 million club option for 2017 with a $1 million buyout if not exercised.
