compromise deal with tyrant Colonel Gaddafi was snubbed

Gaddafi ‘cash deal’ rejected

REBEL fighters dash for cover from bombs dropped by the Libyan air force yesterday - as a compromise deal with tyrant Colonel Gaddafi was snubbed.

The dictator reportedly offered to step down - but wanted guarantees of money plus safety for him and his family and a pledge they would not be put on trial.
A source close to the rebel council said: "I was told that this issue of money is a serious obstacle from the national council's point of view."
Rebels rejected the deal because it gave Gaddafi an "honourable" exit, which would offend his victims.
Essam Gheriani, a media officer for the council, said: "No such offer has been been put to the council as far as I am aware."
Warplanes launched a second day of multiple strikes against opposition forces holding the oil port of Ras Lanuf.
Gaddafi warned that Europe will be "invaded" by thousands of illegal Libyan immigrants if he is toppled from power.
