The opposition website reported on Almanara "fierce battles" in the morning they were taken up during the night.
Almanara released an audio message on an unidentified woman who spoke of the city: "Young and old are dying and we can not evacuate the wounded from the ... 10 am (0500 GMT) the tanks are firing," he said.
