American Red Cross: Japan Earthquake and Pacific Tsunami
On March 11, an 8.9-magnitude earthquake struck off the coast of Japan. The earthquake triggered a tsunami that has swept over cities and farmland in the northern part of the country.
While the toll of this disaster is only beginning to be understood, the greatest priority for the American Red Cross and its humanitarian partners is to prepare to provide shelter, food, emotional support and other assistance to those in need.
