Burger King Releases New Bacon Sundae »
Bacon used to be known as the deliciously greasy food that sat alongside eggs or was stuffed into a BLT. But times have changed and the bacon trend has taken over everything from air fresheners to socks to Burger King sundaes. Burger King’s bacon sundae...

Around The Bacon-verse: Burger King Bacon Sundaes, BLT Chips, Bacon & Egg Ice Cream

It's time to play a civil game of F/M/K with the latest in bacon products and innovations: Burger King has begun testing their delicious-sounding Bacon Sundae on willing participants; Lays has brought out BLT-flavored potato chips; and a new recipe for bacon and egg ice cream is sweeping across the internet.
Burger King isn't the first fast food joint to enlist their mad scientists in some bacon-flavored experimentation:Jack in the Box released a bacon shake in February, and Denny's had a limited edition Maple Bacon Sundae a few years ago. But Burger King's Bacon Sundae is the first that actually has a chance of coming to NYC and invading our mouths. Also, it has real bacon in it, unlike Jack in the Box.
The Sundae includes vanilla ice cream drizzled with fudge sauce, topped with chunks of bacon; there's also a big slice of bacon stuck in it like the flag of some unrecognized nation. As of now, it's only being tested in one location in Nashville, but we've started a letter-writing campaign to get this thing to go national.
Lays released the BLT-flavored chips just in time for...National BLT Sandwich Month—no word yet on whether they'll be releasing Country Style Northerners-flavor chips since it's also Confederate History MonthHuffington Post got a chance to sample the new flavor, and found that they really taste like the sandwich—and that made them feel quite uneasy: "It's eerie that a potato chip can emulate the taste of a sandwich. The flavors of toasted bread, bacon, lettuce, tomato and mayonnaise are all evident."
Bacon and Ice Cream isn't the newest thing (you can watch a video from 2007 below showing you how to make it), but the recipe has evolved over the years. Makendo made the updated dish, which is credited to Chef Heston Blumenthal of Fat Duck Restaurant, and had a very positive response to it: "We had 14 people try the dessert, and everyone liked it, even my youngest son who doesn't like ice cream & my wife, who doesn't like bacon. It's very sweet, very rich and incredibly smooth, and the bacon flavor is strong but far from overpowering."
