#Syria rebel stronghold: It is as if the city is on mute #Douma vehicles slow to a hal

By Charlene Gubash, NBC News DOUMA, Syria -- Surrounded by ancient olive groves, Douma is just ten miles from Damascus but it feels like another world. It is a city under occupation. In Damascus, vehicles slow to a halt due to traffic jams. In Douma, there is no traffic.

A team of international observers was evacuated on Wednesday from a tense town in northern Syria a day after their convoy was hit by a roadside bomb, a UN spokesman said.
