Libya’s future is gazing upon us, and it’s time for us to be part of this future; Libya’s embarking upon a new dawn, a dawn like non before. Libya has embarked on a journey towards liberation; with its first chapter closed and the third about to commence. As Libyans, we have an obligation towards our country; we are obliged to participate in the upcoming elections to elect our National Assembly, the assembly that will represent me, you and all sects of the our Libyan society.Participating in the upcoming elections is a responsibility we shoulder; our generation owes this election to the future generations and to Libya. Libya’s journey, without the slightest doubt, has had its fare share of hardships, misjudgments and violations on so many levels, however, it’s of utmost importance that we learn from our mistakes and circumvent the possibility of their repeat. For Libyans to take the next step we need to accept our wrongdoings (either side), hatch our differences and start a national reconciliation to collectively look towards a better future. In the past, our voices were muted; however, in this chapter our destiny is within our own hands and our voices will be heard through the ballots. The pessimists would say that a vote would not make a difference, but so wrong they are, so wrong. The reality of the matter is that each vote counts and we need to be accountable and responsible for that vote, as that vote can make the difference, that one vote can decide the direction our country takes, that vote will represent you, me and everyone else, that vote must be for the good of Libya and not based on any misinterpreted tribal association or otherwise.
We are obliged to participate in the upcoming elections to elect our National Assembly, the assembly that will represent me, you and all sects of our Libyan society.
Libyans must accept the outcomes of their ballots, unfortunately the sceptical pessimists among us have already sentenced the elections to doom and failure. Personally I disagree with the notion of premature judgements but I do accept that meticulous monitoring, validating and verifying is required, but our priority now should be educate your average Milaad and increase his awareness of the electoral process. Finally, we vowed and chanted that “The Blood of the Martyrs will not be forsaken”, well it’s time we stand by our commitments and fulfil them as Libya is calling; but who will answer its call? Libya is calling; will you answer its call?
