Pro-Romney super PAC makes largest ad buy yet
Posted by
CNN Senior Producer Kevin BohnWashington (CNN) - The pro-Romney super PAC Restore Our Future is going up with its largest ad buy in terms of dollars with an ad hitting President Barack Obama using his own words and some of his flubs, the group tells CNN.
The spot, called "Another Month," begins with a headline from last week showcasing the unemployment rate rising to 8.3% and the announcer saying "Another month. Even more Americans jobless. If you had President Obama's record, what would you do. Would you joke?" Then it features Obama saying "Shovel ready was not as, shovel-ready as we expected," referencing the administration's $787 billion stimulus bill.

With a smile on his face, the president made the "shovel-ready" comment during a meeting of his jobs council in June 2011 in response to a question about some of the problems with permitting for projects.
Restore Our Future said it is spending $10.48 million in the buy for this ad, which goes on the air Tuesday and will run through Aug. 21.
The spot then goes on to ask "Deny reality?" and a clip of the president saying, "We tried our plan, and it worked." The president said the line in late July in Oakland, California as he was comparing the policies of Bill Clinton vs. Republicans while trying to describe what choice voters face today. He was not specifically referencing his administration's policies. However, Republicans immediately pounced on the comment.
The ad also uses the president's statement at a June news conference–"The private sector is doing fine"–when he was making a comparison to how the public sector was doing worse in terms of job loss. He later in the day told reporters "it's absolutely clear the economy is not doing fine" to try to contain the political damage.
The commercial ends with the announcer saying: "Or do what Obama's allies are doing now – launch shameful, dishonest attacks? With no record to run on, it's the only strategy Obama has left."
Independent fact checkers have said ads from both campaigns in recent months have included false accusations and out of context remarks in them.
Restore Our Future, which just completed an ad buy during the Olympics touting Romney's record of running the 2002 Salt Lake City games, will air this new ad in the same 11 states: Colorado, Florida, Iowa, Michigan, Nevada, New Hampshire, North Carolina, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Virginia and Wisconsin.
