BBC10:15 BBC A doctor in Misrata told the BBC overnight the city had suffered one of the strongest attacks since the start of the conflict. “Gaddafi troops are using new tactics to avoid being hit, they are using civilians and buildings as shields to hide their tanks. The troops are using civilian vehicles instead of tanks, using live machine guns instead of artillery. Once we hear the sounds of aircraft they stop attacking, because they are hiding. But once the planes go they start bombing again.
Al Jazeera10:11 Al Jazeera Italian foreign minister Franco Frattini outlines a diplomatic plan to resolve the crisis in Libya that could include exile for Gaddafi. Frattini said the plan would include a UN-monitored ceasefire, wide consultations with Libya’s many tribal groups and “a permanent humanitarian corridor which we are already working on with the Turkish government.”
