France: Arab States Ready to Use Force in Libya

PARIS—French Foreign Minister Alain Juppé said Wednesday that several Arab countries are ready to take an active role in a military operation against Libya's strongman Col. Moammar Gadhafi. "Only the threat of using force can stop Gadhafi," Mr. Juppé said on his official blog. "Several Arab ...

  • France helped a revolution in 13 British colonies in America from 1776 to 1783. They got their just rewards when the returning French soldiers started a French revolution and thousands of heads dripping with blood rolled off guillotines from 1789 onwards.

Now, the Frenchies are talking about helping another revolt in an Arab land. They will get the same reward when the Arabs in France start a jihadi revolution within France.

USA should not assist France because the French moved heaven and earth to thwart USA in Iraq/Afghanistan. Let the mad dictator fight equally mad rebels. The territory the rebels control and receive greatest support are the same ones that contributed more jihadi fighters to Iraq who ventured there to kill US soldiers. Cities of Benghazi and Darnah in the rebel controlled Libyan lands contributed more anti-US fighters than even the cities in Saudi Arabia.

  • Or rather, the French and some dithering Sunni majority nations and some predatory Shiite ones would be happy to rent a conference room and talk Qaddafi to death, figuratively, and only if no one threatens them with a late lunch, and only if they all receive some bakshish in the form of trade concessions.

I hear the drumbeats of diplomats without clear ministerial direction posturing for posterity.

    Affroyant!

  • "Only the threat of using force can stop Gadhafi," what, are the French going to do, threaten to mime Gadhafi to death when the Arab nations don't send any troops to Libya's border?

  • Rather sad when the French hold the moral high ground to beetch slap the US president for being a surrender monkey.

  • Maybe we should take over the UN in New York.

People are rising up to fight oppression whats the difference between a regime which oppresses it people and a regime which is responsible for stopping it and does not do so.

Both have failed to do their duty by citizens and therefore must be overthrown and replaced by regimes which will protect citizens,

    Storm the UN!

  • I agree with Mr. Juppe. If we are going to say that he needs to leave then we should stand up and do something against Gaddafi. Otherwise, we shouldn't say anything at all. Everyone wants Gaddafi out except for Gaddafi and his loyalists. It is time we do something (it's actually overdue that we do something).

  • Unfortunately, it's not only the commenters here who realize Obama is a clueless coward. The whole world knows it, friends and enemies alike. I suppose it causes our enemies to smile while they plan, and our allies to shake in their boots.
