That gorgeous pic of Jupiter and Io is real... kinda
People have been asking me if the picture shown below of Jupiter and its volcanic moon Io is real. The answer is "yes", more or less. It's actually two separate pictures taken by the New Horizons Pluto probe put together in a single montage. The picture is going viral, and I wanted to make sure people know what it is and how it was taken, because in all honestly it's a frakkin' amazing shot. :)
